| The heat is on! | | Last week there was no rain or even cloud cover and the sun was relentless! Last night at my honey's we realized it was still hot even after 10 PM because the AC kept coming on and we had the thermostat up around 80!I got up early this morning and went to the bathroom and adjusted it by one degree so it would kick on and it was hot then! Fortunately today it wasn't as oppressive as I expected but the sun was giving me a headache at bus duty and I had to go back inside the building.I am still working on my place and hoping to get one of those portable style air conditioners that you can move around within the next month because my computer can not take the heat and keeps shutting itself down.I am usually at work for the hottest parts of the day but now that summer is on it is taking longer for the house to cool off again and I am now forced to look for ways to beat the heat. What do you do to escape the heat? | |
| | Now You Can Breath Clean Air No Matter Where You Live | | It is common knowledge that the air people breathe nowadays is far from being ideal. With the presence of numerous factories, smoke belching vehicles, cigarette smokers and even accidental forest fires, the quality of air has decreased greatly. This scenario has resulted to various health problems affecting the primarily the respiratory systems of people of all ages and from all walks of life.Is there still hope of reversing this scenario? Are we doomed to die gasping for fresh air and praying for a healthier environment? Thankfully, the answer is filled with hope. While we can’t go back to the clean air that our ancestors had centuries ago, we can still have a better environment by doing some essential actions. Here are some of the ways that we can still breathe clean air no matter where we live.Inside your home, you can already do your part. You may start by participating in the local utility’s energy conservation programs. You can inquire for tips on how to go about this. If they don’t have a set program yet, encourage them to start one. You must also unplug items that are not being used often, such as the DVD player or the oven. | | It was hot! | | And it's only gonna get hotter! Here in the Houston, Texas area, temperatures climbed to 101 degrees F today and tomorrow promises to be another scorcher! In fact, since the winds are supposed to be calm tomorrow, we also have an ozone warning in effect! BUT ITS ONLY JUNE!!!!July and August are normally the hottest months here on the Texas Riviera but June is promising those months to be pure evil! Not a good thing for area residents recoiling from the economic recession as money is tight now and hot temps mean running air conditioners even harder in an attempt to stay cool! I have even had to change my A/C setting from low cool to med cool and drop the thermo a couple degrees to combat the extreme temps! That means higher electric bills! So how is it in your area?Hot enough for ya? | |
| | Do Energy Economizer for Air Conditioners reduces bills? | | Hi All,
I came across energy economizer which will reduce the electricity bill from 20 to 40%. Will they actually work? If so can we use them for air conditioners. I know that present 5 star rated air conditioners will have good energy efficiency, but I think by using these energy economizer we can reduce electricity bills. Can please give detail review on energy economizer.
| | Are we spoiled? | | Yesterday my boyfriends sister had a baby shower. All the kids were inside so i went outside and was talking with my boyfriends gramdpa . I complained about the heat and he told us about before they had air conditioners, he worked on the 17h floor . He had to bring at least 3 pairs of cloths a day and when he got to ho in one he would take it off and put on the other on and hang it out to dry on clips . Do you think that we are spoiled? | |
| | when it's hot, sunny, and humid out...do you run your air conditioner all day | | We are just starting to get the typical summer weather here, and today is sunny, and humid! While I do have room air conditioners, I hate having my house all closed up all the time. So what I usually try to do is go around the house and follow the sun, by closing the windows in the room where the sun is presently coming in at, and closing the curtains, and blinds; and then when the sun moves to the other part of the house, I open the windows in the first room room, and close them on the side of the house that the sun is on presently. I usually keep the blinds closed all day, so as not to let the sun in completely. I have to say that it works much better, and my house always feels cool when I come in from outside.Even if I am working all day, I completely keep my windows shut, and blinds closed all day and I run the ceiling fans to get air. I hate coming into a house after work, and feeling the heat that I let in while I was gone. What do you do? | |
| | This is Perfect! | | What is perfect you ask? The summer this year is perfect! This has got to be the most perfect summer I have ever experienced in NY. It hasn't been getting too hot and the nights are nice and cool.
We have been getting a few humid days lately and all that rain caused the skeeters to breed like crazy, but that's what they make skeeter repellent for lol.Just to give a little background. I was born and grew up in Germany, where when it's 80 degree in the shade, it's considered a heatwave and they even let the kids out of school early lol.So needless to say, these hot and humid summers here in NY have been doing a number on me and my electric bill. Last year we had the air conditioners in the windows by May. This year we didn't even put them in and I doubt we will.
Except for the humidity lately, this summer reminds me of back home, where I used to be able to enjoy the summers outdoors without getting a heatstroke after 5 minutes LOL.My flowers and tomatoes are thriving and I barely ever have to water them. Samson, my cat, is enjoying the outdoors, chasing butterflies and watching birds.Spring is usually my favorite season, with fall being the second favorite, but...
| | Do you remeber back when we had no air conditioner | | How many of you have a air conditioner? How many of you can live with out one? I remeber, When I was younger, A child! we did not have air conditioners. we did not even have air conditioned cars. Can you live like that again? Every thing had to be ironed and mothers used cloth daipers on their babies any way can you live like that again? Can you add any thing else you can remember of the olden days? I would love to hear from every one. | |
| | During hot days, electric fan or air con? | | Good day my fellow MyLotters,Some of us here in MyLot are from a tropic country like me, I am from Philippines. And there are times or seasons that we feel a very hot climate. It is very irritating to our body when we feel hot or we have sweat a lot. During at night it is very difficult to sleep, when we are having a hot climate[em]angry[/em]. I am not a rich guy, so what we use to lessen the heat is to use our electric fan, we have 2 electric fans in our room, and it is a great help for us[em]lol[/em]. If I could only have some money, I would buy an Air Conditioner. How bout you my fellow MyLotters, what do you use, electric fan or Air Conditioner?God bless.
Happy MyLotting[em]thumbup[/em].

Happy MyLotting[em]thumbup[/em].
| | rich community is contributing more to global warming than poors. | | ..is true to a large extent according to me..rich people exercise their control over a large part of resources and they because of their easy reach to resources, spend them lavishly and harm the enviroment.one of the most common examples is that of air conditioners used at homes that consume a large amount of energy and in turn release heat in the enviroment thus making enviroment hot.......!!!!! | |
