How Can This Be Legal?
I have many aches and pains and bad body parts, from many injuries, over the years. Mainly, work-related injuries. Others are resulting reinjuries from those originals. My latest is my left knee giving out on me about a week ago. It happened at home, so no Worker's Comp. But no income, either, since I'm currently off work, and not sure when I'm supposed to be able to go back. The only income my nearly-9-year-old daughter and I have is the Death Benefits check she gets each month from her late-father, who was killed in an accident when she was two. That income, itself (just over $500) keeps me from qualifying for nearly all government assistance programs. I can only work one job, because of previous injuries, so that only adds about another $500 per month. When I'm working. So, ususally, rent and utilities are covered. And we rely on food banks for most of our food. The only house I could afford was $350 per month. In a slum neighborhood. The house is practically falling apart, and most people say it isn't even worth the $350/ month. When something happens, the landlord won't fix it. "Not for $350 a month," is his usual response. Since the central air unit was stolen the...
Democrat Barack Obama's 845 Billion Dollar Bill May Be Pasted
Some of Barack Obama's supported here at My lots may not have much longer to wait, conservative news this morning reports Obama's 845 billion dollar global poverty act may soon be passed. I hope the Barack Obama supporters don't waste my time telling me how hard up the people in their town are, going with out food to buy their medications, can't run their air conditioners cause they can't pay their electric bill, freeze to death in the winter can't afford the heating bill, many of these same people clamor for their king Barack Obama. Not many American's actually know the dirty dealings Barack Obama is dealing to the American people, because there either to busy,to stressed,to tired, will not listen to the voters that have make it their business to know, or they listen to liberal slanted media that dam sure don't want then to know. I can certainly understand why Nancy Pelosi and the her liberal gang is against republican Mike Pence's bill,*Quoting Polosi* it is against the democrat agenda, she at least has that right. Obama supporters gather up your pennies to buy your king a thank you card for sticking it to you and every American against his agenda for American really good. Us...
The U.S. Left Wing's Own Oil Embargo...
All this talk about oil and whether we should or shouldn't drill domestically got me thinking. Back in the 70s we had what was called an "oil shortage". OPEC and other nations decided to cut the production of oil to drive up the price. It worked for awhile, but market forces and under the table deals by OPEC nations put an end to the profitability of continuing it.Once again, prices are through the roof. The left (and some on the right) accuse oil producing nations conspiring with Bush and Cheney to keep production down, in order to drive prices up. Much of the left is crying foul because the price of gasoline is hurting "the poor". But who is really the architect of this latest oil embargo? US officials make trips to the Middle East to get them to increase production... yet why should THEY increase production? The only country with boatloads of oil that isn't drilling it is US!So, if you're among those who are glad to see gas prices kill our economy, so you can live your dream of carless cities and bicycle paths all over the state, how are you any different that the oil barrens of the 70's? If you are among those who want to perpetuate this self imposed embargo, how...
How hot does the temperature have to be before you've had enough?
It is so hot here the past few days! Today we broke a record when we officially hit 33.7 degrees Celcius, though in some places the temperature was showing as high as 37. Most people don't have air conditioners in their homes here, so we can only do our best with fans and trying to keep the sun out in order to keep our homes cool. Unfortunately when it's this hot it gets to a point where they don't really help anymore and all you can do is wait for the sun to go down so it starts cooling off. I don't handle heat very well, I don't sweat like most people and because of that I just feel horrible when it's hot. All day I've just felt like a zombie, so exhausted that I can't function but it's so hot an attempt at some sleep didn't go well. I like the temperature when it's in the high teens or low twenties(in celcius), with some warm days around 25 and some cool days in the low teens thrown in there. But unfortunately where I live it is possible to have it as cold as almost -40 in winter and as hot as almost +40 in summer.
Do you use ceiling fans at home?
I have always had a ceiling fan in every room of every house I have stayed in. My bedroom has an additional air-conditioner which i use when its really hot. In India schools and colleges and a lot of offices have ceiling fans. Offices are now using air-conditioners and this trend is growing. Do you have ceiling fans at home? How is the trend in your country
Does anyone on here suffer from bad air quality like me?
Hi! I just wanted to see if my body is out of whack! haha. I tend to work in different offices each week, based on my assignment with my temp agency. It's the summer, so thankfully they all have air conditioners. BUT, in some offices, I get the wobbly woozies as if something is affecting my ear. When it gets too bad, I tend to go take a break outside for 5-10 minutes, to get some fresh air, then I feel fine. Go back in, get dizzy again, repeat. I have high suspicion it's because of these air conditioner machines. But not sure, just MAYBE it's the stomach flu creeping up on me. Does this happen to anyone else?
modern technology and the radiation effects -any solution?
i am really afraid . dear friends i was involved in a serious discussion with some of my learned friends and i was convinced that the people who lived say 50 years ago were quite safe since they were not surrounded by the radiations emitted by the modern gadgets which are surrounding us. the microwaves, the computers, the television sets, the air conditioners,[em]thumbup[/em] the mobile telephones, all of these and many other things emit enough electromagnetic radiations to disturb the aura of positive energy around us!! and as the aura s affected, we start getting affected by our surrounding pollutants and our energy, our resistance, our immunity starts falling which ultimately makes us prone to many infections and hence diseases. can we save ourselves and get a better life by avoiding the use of these modern gadgets?[em]thumbup[/em][em]thumbup[/em]
And so with the change of season comes the Fall chores...
Sorry, I've been away from MyLot, I had to get started on the "Honey-Do" list for the Fall. First thing on the list, take down all the deck furniture and put it away. It's always loads of fun unscrewing 1000 bolts to dissemble a aluminum gazebo while a frosty wind blasting across my face is a showing me a small glimpse to what's really coming. Of course the grass isn't really growing as much anymore, but having the lawn groomed before the snow hits it makes my wife sleep better at night. Since everything that was outside all summer now has to go back inside for the Winter, garage cleaning has placed itself in the primary duty spot on my "To-Do" list as now I have to make room for all the crap coming in. All the Christmas decorations have been pulled out of the back of the garage and placed in an accessible location for an upcoming holiday which name escapes me. I got all the quilts and blankets out of the boxes and prepped the furnace for another year of maintaining the house at a balmy sixty-seven degrees Fahrenheit. The clothing my kids used to fit the previous year are boxed and ready to be stuffed in the back of the garage...forever. The window air-conditioners have been...
Wondering If My Letters Had The Effect
Many discussions ago I was complaining how high my electric bill had gone up. You have to realize I live in a studio apartment, during the summer I only had ONE fan going..I have NO air-conditioning. I turn lights out when I'm not using them, so virtually sitting in the dark...LOL. I rarely have my TV on, blah, blah, blah. I was looking at my bills from last year at the same time period and they were in the $50 to $60 range and ironically was using more electricity as I had three fans going on during the summer months. So I couldn't figure out why all of a sudden my electric bills have been in the whopping $90 near $100 range..like WTF?Don't ask how many times I was complaining to my electric company. The whole "problem" lay in the fact that my electric bills were estimated...but not only mine but everyone in my building..still the people that live right next door who have two air conditioners, ceiling fans, and a larger apartment were paying only $10 more than me.So I kept complaining, and complaining and not getting any satisfactory answer save being told that the reason why everyone's bill in my building were estimates for the past four months was due to the fact that...
Seasons and temperatures
Okay, there's amystery that asserts itself each year. Every summer, many people, including my husband get very hot and like the air conditioner set to about 65 - sometimes lower. Then wintery weather comes 'round and these same people want the heat up really high at least 70 - when in the summer they artificially lower the temperature much lower. Now, I'm agree with my husband in the summer, I like to sleep in cool climates. But come the winter, this doesn't change. Now, I don't want to have to wear many layers, but I don't like the heat up so high I feel stifled, my skin is super dry and my sinuses compacted. This year where getting a way better humidifyer - we had a standard one last year and it wasn't very effective. Especially in a larger room.So what do you think? I figure it must be psychological, but can't be sure. Are you like this with your air conditining/swamp cooler or your heat? All I can say is that its lucky our utilities are included!
