| Don't you hate this hot summer days? | | These days were hot and dry, I have to turn on the air conditioners at home, and in my car. Otherwise, I just couldn't stand this summer heat. Everyday the temperature gone up to 90 degrees above. Even at night time, I couldn't even sleep, because of the heat. I wish that we would have some rain for this weekend, to vaporize the heat a little. Don't you hate that heat? | |
| | It's been soooo hot, today is much cooler | | So far this summer has been so rainy, but the last two days has been so hot, it was unbearable. I usually do not mind the heat, but it has been so humid and hot, even I couldn't deal with it.
We did not bring our air conditioners down from the attic, because the weather was so cool and rainy. the last two nights my husband and I sweltered at night trying to sleep. We both slept on the couch the last two nights. Today, it is still humid, but not as hot, we just had a super dooper rainfall, I will sleep well tonight. How has the weather been where you are? Hope you are cool and comfortable. | |
| | Do you off the switch when you leave the room.... | | Hi friends,When you leave a room either at home or at office, do you switch off all the lights, fan or Airconditioners and then go to the next room, or you just leave it on without bothering....
At home, even when I go from one room to another room to take something I will switch off the lights and fan and when I come back I switch it on again, it has now become a habit...Some people will switch on the Television even if they are on phone or working in some other room, I usually discourage this for my kids, but they still do it, I try to avoid it as much as possible....After all we are the ones paying the electric bills and if we are a bit more careful for our own sakes if not for others, this small gesture will go a long way in saving energy also....So mylotters what do you say? what is your habit...... | |

Simple energy saving measures can really save a lot. I learned how to cut the use of air conditioners, it will be on just for a certain time in the wee hours of the morning and fans will do the rest of the cooling. I changed my light bulbs to CFLs, compact flourescent lamps, low wattage but give brighter lights. The ironing will be done once a week instead of doing it everyday, flat irons are notorious in devouring electricity.Do you have your own saving measures? | |

But, I have this problem: I was born without a techie gene. Not only that, I think I have some kind of anti-tech gene, as I'm forever breaking the stuff, high-[i]or[/i]-low-tech!! I'm absolutely brilliant in other ways (she said modestly...[em]rolleyes[/em]), but when it comes to techie stuff, I have not Clue One!Although I have the heart of a Jetson girl (where[i]are[/i] the flying cars they promised, by the way?), I don't understand what makes techie things work, & when people try to explain the simplest thing about it, my mind just seizes up. They might as well be talking to gerbils. Which creatures, by the way--for all I can tell--[i]may actually run[/i] cars, computers, air conditioners, & so on!This really is 100% true for low-tech stuff, too. No two clocks in my apartment show the same time, & three have simply died of mysterious causes! All I did was[i]look[/i] at them! (No, for you who are thinking it, it wasn't my face that stopped them! Har de har!) And try as I might to never over-wind wind-up clocks, those die quickly, too.... | |

In my family we use hand held fans made from bamboo leaves and there is another made from a kind of roots, called ‘ bena-cher’, when wet it gives a pleasant scent, just move it near your face you get cool scented breeze.[em]rolleyes[/em]
These days bamboo leaf and benacher fans are becoming a rare so we use plastic fans.
