| | | new book | | any body who has read the new artemis fowl book i have just started reading it and it looks good. | |
| | | Harry Potter, Artemis Fowl, and Eragon | | All these books and all the books in the series including those not yet released...they are all great rivals...each book has its quirks and its downfalls, but the things they have in common are what make them great novels...and what is going to happen next is also what keeps their readers eager to read more...such as is Dumbledore really dead and how will Eragon end, and with Artemis Fowl, has anyone completely translated the writing on the bottom of the pages? | |
| | can somebody tell me wat hapned?? | | hey ppl...am a huge fan of artemis fowl..da problem is i havent read any othe book since da artic incidence..were he saves his dad and after dat i have noooooo clue wat hapned.....so could someone pleeeeeeeease tell me wat hapnes at least a smalll summary???i would be sooo grateful.... | |
| | How many books have you read so far this year? Which books? | | Mine are:
1. "Life, The Universe, and Everything" by Douglas Adams 182 pages
2. "Brother Odd" by Dean Koontz 364 pages
3. "So Long, And Thanks For All The Fish" by Douglas Adams 204 pages
4. "Anansi Boys" by Neil Gaiman 306 pages
5. "artemis Fowl" by Eoin Colfer 280 pages
6. "Fluke, Or, I Know Why the Winged Whale Sings" by Christopher Moore, 317 pages
7. "The Private Life of the Cat Who..." By Lilian Jackson Braun 123 pages
8. "Odd Thomas" by Dean Koontz 446 pages
| | Childhood Reading and Light Reading | | I've been thinking about my childhood. I read A LOT when I was a kid. My favorite books were the Babysitter's Club and Goosebumps. What is your favorite children's book or children's book series?
Also, springtime is coming up, which (if you're in college or not) means spring break. What light reading would you all recommend? Thanks.
| | What have you read lately? | | I usually go to Uncle Spike's, our second-hand book on the corner, near our office, and pick a bunch of books, based on title, cover and whatever else piques my fancy that specific day. In this month's batch I got 'Lili' (Annie Wang), 'Queen of Dreams' (Chitra Divakaruni) and 'Prodigal Summer' (Barbara Kingsolver). 'Lili' is set in Beijing China. The story starts just before the Tiananmen Square incident and is about Lili's political awakening. 'Queen of Dreams' is set in California and tells the story of an Indian family. I found this book very entertaining. An interesting twist was the 9/11 incident written cleverly into the storyline.'Prodigal Summer' is set in rural America. The characters in the book evolve in a matter of a summer to the point where they understand themselves and their surroundings better, and in the end comes to terms with their lives. Very different from the 'Poisonwood Bible' but also a very good read from Barbara Kingsolver. So, what have you read lately, and what can you recommend to other readers? | |
| | Children's books | | I love reading children's books. One of my favourite authors is Anthony Horrowitz. I love all his books from the whole Alex Rider series to the Diamond brother series to Raven's gate. His books are fabulous they contain humour, action, adventure and brilliant characters and plots without the added sexual content and awful language that is often found in adult books. Chris Ryan and his Alpha series are also a good read as is The Artemis fowl by Colfer.
